Carroll Ray Baker

Carroll Ray Baker, age 88, of Clintwood, VA (Caney Ridge) passed away on November 14, 2020 in Knoxville, TN while staying in the care of his daughter. Carroll was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County. He lived his entire life on Caney Ridge (Clintwood) and was a familiar face to all. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many and will be missed for years to come. Carroll served his country in the Army during the Korean War and served a brief stint in the Marines prior to that. He was also a Mason for 48 years. Carroll was a member of Yates Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from coal mining after 45 years of work and served as superintendent at Betty B Coal Corporation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Baker; daughter, Deanna Baker; grandson, Seth Moore; parents Hardaway and Hattie Baker; four brothers, Cecil, Jimmy, Glen and Ricky. Survivors Include: His Daughter: Lisa Baker Moore of Knoxville, Tennessee Five Grandchildren: Terra Willis, Sara Moore Martin (Brooks), Kara (Eric) Miller, Aaron Willis and Austin Mullins Five Great Grandchildren Brother: A J (Sue) Baker of Clintwood, Virginia Two Sisters: Sue (Jimmy) Mullins of Clintwood, Virginia and Janie (Larry) Bise of Bristol, Tennessee A host of other family and friends The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. A flag presentation and private Masonic service will be conducted by Clintwood Masonic Lodge #66 at 5:45 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are asked to meet at The Yates Cemetery, Caney Ridge Section, Clintwood, Virginia on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. where a graveside service will be conducted. Gary Stanley and Mike Yates will officiate. Burial will follow. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and masks will be required. Pallbearers will be Aaron Willis, Austin Mullins, John Stanley, Greg Willis, Scott Mullins, and Steven Baker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Stanley, Joe Tate, Larry Bise, A J Baker, and Jimmy Blaine Mullins. Mullins Funeral Home and Staff are serving the Baker family.
