Frances Dollie Conley

Frances Dollie Mullins Conley entered eternal life July 30, 2026, at 91 years of age. She was born December 27, 1934, in Clintwood, Virginia, to Fassie Mullins and was adopted and reared by her grandparents William and Cosby Mullins following her mother’s death only three months after Dollie's birth. Dollie married Marvin Johnson in 1950 and moved to Detroit, where she started her family of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Conley, her brother Sonny Mullins, her firstborn son Gary (Tina) Johnson, and her grandson Breck Cooley. She leaves behind one brother, James Virgil Mullins, four children: Billy Johnson, Greg (Jackie) Johnson, Lisa Johnson (Jeff ) Cooley, and Randy (Nikki) Mullins. She also leaves behind beloved grandchildren Michael Johnson, Toby Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Jessica Johnson Booker, Jade Cooley Coyne, Austin Mullins, Andres Mullins and step-grandson Caleb Coggins. Her great-grandchildren brought her such joy: Paige, Ashlyn, Adyn, Vivian, Jayden and Declan, along with Bowden, Ellie, Xander, Sadie, Harrison and Kieran. She had one great-great-granddaughter, Stella. Dollie lived in Detroit, MI; Aurora, IN; Whitesburg, KY; Huntsville, AL; and Knoxville, TN. She was baptized in 1974 and had a great faith in her Savior. After returning to Clintwood in 1990, she was a member of Valley View Baptist Church and sang with the choir. She volunteered at Dickenson County Hospital for many years and made friends while making a difference in the lives of patients and their families. She was generous in giving to evangelical and other charities. She loved Jesus, decorating, music, dancing, shoes, true crime stories, the Crimson Tide, the beach, and shrimp. Dollie moved to Knoxville in 2021 following the death of her husband, where she lived at Parkview Senior Living near her daughter. She enjoyed independent living in a community of other seniors in a lovely setting. The staff there treated her with such consideration, and she was so grateful for their many kindnesses. She developed a sudden illness in April, resulting in blindness and her subsequent passing. She passed peacefully at the home of her daughter and her “favorite” son-in-law. The family wants to express deepest appreciation to CARIS Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Dollie’s final months. Funeral Services will be at Mullins Funeral Home in Clintwood, VA on Saturday, August 8th at 10:00 AM for the receiving of friends, with the service to follow at 11:00 AM, with Lester Mullins officiating. Interment will be at the William and Newton Mullins Cemetery (Foxtown) following the funeral service. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering at the Sleep Inn lounge at 2:00 PM.
