Mildred Yates (Ramey) August 8, 1953 – August 15, 2024 Mildred Yates, a beloved member of the Clintwood community, passed away on August 15, 2024. She lived a beautiful life and is now resting in the arms of her Jesus. She is survived by her devoted husband, Palmer Yates; her loving daughters, Melissa McKern (married to Toby) and Laura Campoli (married to Justin); six cherished grandchildren, Courtney Reed (married to Jon), Kayla Adkins (married to Brandon), Kaitlyn McKern (partner Cody Quattlebaum), TJ McKern, Stella Campoli and Theo Campoli; two great-grandchildren, Lainey Adkins and Walker Reed; her precious sisters, Sharon Farmer (Danny) and Julia Ratliff (married to Terry); and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Mildred is pre-deceased by her parents, Erma Joyce and John Daniel Ramey; her sisters, Gaynell Ramey, Dovie Sadra Ramey, and Dana Dotson and husband Darrel; and her extended family members, Theo and Oleta Yates, Clyde Davis and daughter Bonnie, Debbie Hill and grandson Simon Dotson, Linda Childress and son-in-law Bill Carroll. As a member of Clintwood Bible Church, Mildred was a pillar of her faith community. She dedicated her younger years to teaching Sunday school and helping to run Vacation Bible School. Her commitment to the Women’s Fellowship brought support and comfort to countless women. As the owner of Mildred’s Fashions and Keepsakes, she not only provided the Clintwood community with unique items but also created a welcoming and supportive environment for her customers. Her customers and employees were some of her most cherished friends. Mildred’s artistic talents were varied and boundless. Throughout the years, she enjoyed creating through ceramics, macrame, sewing, sand art, gardening, and cooking. She was an avid crocheter, creating handmade gifts that her grandchildren and loved ones will treasure forever. Later in life, she discovered a passion for painting, which became a new way for her to express her creativity. Her love of decorating, especially for the holidays, made every celebration in her home special and memorable. Beyond her home in Clintwood, Mildred found joy and companionship in her second home in Florida, where she built a community of friends who appreciated her warmth and kindness. Mildred had a remarkable ability to find the good in everyone and everything, and her infectious laugh could light up any room. Above all, Mildred’s deep and abiding love for her husband, Palmer, was a cornerstone of her life. Their enduring relationship served as an inspiration to all who knew them, a testament to a life lived with love and devotion. A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held on Sunday, August 18th where the family will receive friends at 6PM and a service will be conducted at 7:00pm with Mike yates officiating in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel, where her family and friends will gather to honor the memory of a woman who touched so many lives with her generosity, creativity, and unshakeable faith.
