Paul Vernon Fields

Paul Vernon Fields, age 97 passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was born in Barnett Missouri and his family moved to Dickenson County in 1937. Paul was of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy and was also a veteran of Korea and Vietnam serving in the army, a total of twenty-five years served in the military. He retired from southwest security after being employed there for seventeen years. He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary Jane Neece, parents; JA Fields, Tennessee Sarah Fields, step daughter; Sandy Jenkins, sisters; Ada Fields, Dorothy Phillips, Helen Fields, brothers; James Fields, Frank Fields, Ivan Gene Fields and Leo Fields Survivors include: Step Children: Levone Kiser, Timothy Vinson and Jeffrey Vinson Grandchildren: Christina Jenkins, Isaac Vinson, Caleb Vinson and Vayda Vinson, Cory Vinson and a host of nieces and nephews. Paul was truly blessed with a long life; it was amazing to sit with him and listen to him tell stories of his life. Way back from a small child and through out his many years as a soldier. He never forgot names, places, times or dates. September of 2005 Paul gave his heart to God and was baptized. He really enjoyed attending church. He would say “my only regret was not doing it sooner”. He loved talking about the bible. Paul made many friends throughout his many years and he will be greatly missed. Until we meet again, go rest in Jesus arms. You have fought a good fight and you have run your race with patience. There is a crown waiting for you! We love you and will miss you, Uncle Paul. Family and friends will receive friends at the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel Monday September 18th 2023 from starting at 12:00 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with clergy; Danny Meade and Darrell Milgrim officiating. The US Navy honor guard and the VFW army Mountaineer post 8652 will conduct honors at the Chapel immediately following the Funeral. Graveside services will follow at the Neece Cemetery, bear (ridge section) Dante section, VA Pallbearers will be family and friends Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Fields, Johnny Fields and Lonnie Phillips
