Allen Gene Conley, age 88, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Dorton, Kentucky, but lived most of his life in Dickenson County. He was a member of Peuther Freewill Baptist Church and attended Hill Ridge Freewill Baptist Church. Gene was a born again Christian and preached the Gospel for over 40 years. He was an avid Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast. He loved watching his children ride and show in competition. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict where he was a prisoner of war for two and a half years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Conley; his parents, Ben Conley and Sarah Conley Elkins; his daughter, Donna Gail Conley; his brothers, Troy Mullins, Bill Conley, Mack Conley, and Benny Conley; and his grandson, Andrew Conley. Survivors Include: His Wife: Dollie Conley of Clintwood, Virginia His Children: Brenda (David) Stanley of Clintwood, Virginia; Margaret (Randy “Pooch”) Mullins of Surgoinsville, Tennessee; Debbie (Gary) Bunch of Kingsport, Tennessee; Wayne (Sherry) Conley of Morristown, Tennessee; Gay (Michael) Sisel of Sevierville, Tennessee; and Mike (Renee) Conley of Clintwood, Virginia Stepchildren: Billy Johnson of Appomattox, Virginia; Greg (Jackie) Johnson of Gladstone, Virginia; Lisa (Jeff) Cooley of Morristown, Tennessee; and Randy (Nicki) Mullins of Huntsville, Alabama Ten Grandchildren Fourteen Great Grandchildren Four Great Great Grandchildren Several nieces and nephews The family will receive friends Monday, March 29, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Randy Carter and Keith Dotson will officiate. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and masks will be required. Family and friends are asked to meet at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel at 10: 45 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021 to proceed to the Bise Ridge Cemetery, Bise Ridge, Clintwood,Virginia where a military graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Keith Dotson and Joe Glenn Sluss will officiate. Burial will follow. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be sons in law, David, Pooch, Gary, and Mike and stepsons, Billy, Greg, and Randy Special thanks to his devoted friend, Wade Rose for always helping with visiting, taking to doctor’s appointments, and peanut butter candy.
