James Billy Stanley, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He lived most of his life in Dickenson County and was a member of Rachel Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was retired from Island Creek Coal Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Stanley; his sister, Joyce Baker; and two grandsons, Gary Kyle and John David Stanley. Survivors Include: Two Sons: Billy Kyle (Kelly) Stanley of Richlands, Virginia and Gary (Kathy) Stanley of Coeburn, Virginia Two Daughters: Diana (Marty) Edwards of Haysi, Virginia and Cindy (Dean) Mullins of Clintwood, Virginia One Sister: Lois Killen of Lynchburg, Virginia One Brother: Don Stanley of Hays, North Carolina Very Special Caretaker: Laura Brickey Four Grandchildren: Shawn Stanley and wife, Misty; Natashia Edwards; Marisa Long and husband, Brandon; and Jessie Mullins Four Great Grandchildren: Sydney, Zoe, Landon, and Allie Several nieces and nephews The family will receive friends Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with services to follow at 7:00 p.m. Jeff Sams will officiate. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with Don Stanley officiating. A VFW service will also be conducted by VFW Post 8979. Burial will follow in the Keith Family Cemetery, Caney Ridge Section, Coeburn, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Brandon Long, Chad Turner, Marty Edwards, Dean Mullins, and Shaun Tiller, and Paul Sluss. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Rachel Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and staff and residents of The Laurels. Mullins Funeral Home and Staff are serving the Stanley Family.
