Susan Frances Adams

December 9, 1950 - July 30, 2018

Susan Frances Whitaker Adams, age 67, entered her heavenly home surrounded by family on Monday July 30, 2018. She was born in West Virginia, but lived most of her life in Dickenson County. She was a former Dickenson County Head Start teacher for over twenty years, and loved each child as her own, worked at the Clintwood Garment Company, was also an aide in the Dickenson County Public School System and worked at the Clintwood Piggly Wiggly. Frances was a caregiver and housekeeper for many families in Dickenson County. Frances always put God first and took pride in everything she done. She never met a stranger, always had a smile on her face and made sure to tell all to have a blessed day. Frances is loved and will be missed by everyone who encountered her sweet soul. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Marie Whitaker. Survivors Include: Her two daughters: Tamera (Chris) Mullins of Norton, Virginia Amber Adams (Cole) Trent of Atlanta, Georgia Stepson: Nelson Hayes of Castlewood, Virginia One brother: James Whitaker of Pikeville, Kentucky One sister: Queen Sharin of Franklin, Virginia Special Sister-In-Law and Friend: Linda Dixon of Clinchco, Virginia Close family friend and "Sister-Nana" Cathy Bailey of Dryden, Virginia Five Grandchildren, who she took delight in helping to name: Tyson Isaih Ryan Bailey, Harrison Elijah Prince Dockery, Addyson Mercie Grace Cook, and Genson Micah Cloyde and Miracle Blesson Marie Mullins. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Friday August 3, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday August 4, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Glenn Sluss and Jimmy Mitchell officiating. Internment will follow at Miller Cemetery, Carbo, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry and Susie Vanover, Mark and Janie Vanover, Janie Bise, Charlotte Counts, Sister Bernie Kenny, Dr. Teresa Tyson, Dr. Paula Hill-Collins, Myrlene O’Quinn, Patricia Bradford, Myrtle Rice and Joseph Kiser. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Mullins Funeral Home for funeral expenses. Mullins Funeral Home and Staff are serving the Adams Family.
