Connie Lavon Mullins

Connie Lavon Mullins, 69, of Clintwood, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Connie was born on December 20, 1956, in Clintwood, Virginia, at the old Phipps Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Faye W. Senters and the late Corbett Senters. Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was married to the love of her life, Dennis Gene Mullins. Her husband, children, and grandchildren meant more to her than anything in this world. She loved her family deeply and was happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Connie was a Christian and a woman of great love, kindness, and strength. She was stronger than she ever realized and often stronger than she gave herself credit for. Her gentle heart, caring spirit, and unconditional love left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Second only to her love for her family was Connie’s love for music. Like her mother, she always dreamed of being famous and loved to sing. Connie had the most beautiful voice, and music was a special part of who she was. Those who heard her sing will always carry the memory of her beautiful voice in their hearts. Preceding her in death were her siblings, Anna Mae, Truman Elkins, and Corbett Elkins, Jr., “June Bug,” and her grandson, James Allen Turner IV. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of fifty-three years, Dennis Gene Mullins; her children, Stephanie Jean Mullins, Tracy Lavon Smith (Jason), Gamelil Gene Mullins (Sabrina), Christopher Wayne Mullins, and Sheena Diane Stanley (Billy). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Austin Turner (McKinlee), Ethan Turner, Mallory McCowan, Hayden Mullins, Jordan Clark, Hunter Mullins, Gamelil Mullins Jr., Allison Stanley, Makenzie Stanley, and Kian Mullins; and her great-grandchildren, Harley and Hallen Turner. Connie is also survived by her siblings, Clyde Elkins (Larney) and Diane Fleming, and three special cousins, who were more like sisters. Elizabeth Stanley, Teresa Branham, and Jequita Ratliff. Connie’s family extended far beyond her immediate household. She shared a close and loving bond with her in-laws, who were an important part of her life and her heart. She is survived by Vonda Hamilton, Renita Wallace, and Ernie Mullins (Tammy). She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Donald Mullins and Lonnie Mullins (Linda). She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were all very special to her. There are far too many to name, but each one held a special place in her heart. Connie’s greatest legacy was the love she gave to her family. She loved deeply, cared endlessly, and gave more of herself than she ever realized. Her family will forever remember her beautiful voice, kind heart, strength, laughter, and, most of all, the love she had for them. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped, cared for, supported, and prayed for Connie and Dennis throughout her long hospital stay at PMC and Bristol Regional Medical Center. Every prayer, kind word, visit, and act of love meant more to the family than words can express. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing that Connie’s love will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Pallbearers will be Gamelil Mullins, Christopher Mullins, Austin Turner, Ethan Turner, Hayden Mullins, Hunter Mullins, Billy Stanley, and Jason Smith. Services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, followed by services at the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Hall officiating. A burial will follow at the Haynes Cemetery (Pine Creek Section) in Clintwood, Virginia. A reception will be held after the graveside service at the Clintwood Community Center.
