Gary Lee Honaker

Gary Honaker, age 69, entered his heavenly home surrounded by family at Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood, Virginia, on March 16, 2026. He fought a long battle with Black Lung Disease and died from complications due to this. He was an underground coal miner for 40 years. He was a hard worker and had a strong work ethic. He was born in Dickenson County and lived his whole life there. He was of the Christian Faith. He loved God, his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, family, and friends. He liked hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He especially loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a great repairman and enjoyed woodworking. He was a devoted husband and father. He was a loved husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He is preceded in death by his father, Orbie Lee Honaker; step-mother, Stella Honaker; mother, Delphine Stanley; sister, Pauline Dutton; half-sister, Faye Stanley; nephew, Nathan Honaker; nephew, Greg Dutton; nephew, Dennis Fleming; and step-nephew, Jason Puckett. Survivors include: His wife: Elizabeth Fleming Honaker His Children: Amanda Honaker Griffin (Jonathan), Christopher Honaker (Amanda Mullins Honaker ), Bradley Honaker (Veronica Mullins Honaker ), and Barry Honaker (Kelli Mullins Honaker) Brothers and Sisters: Danny Honaker (Betty), Randy Honaker ( Brittany), Barbara McKinney(Jason), Loraine Owens (Eric Stanley), Darlene Honaker, and Shirley Ball (James) Half- Brother: Wiley Stanley(Tina) Stepbrothers and sisters: Magdalene Deel (Dean), Josephine Willis, Dollie Fleming (Doug), Pamela Boyd, Delois Stanley ( Gary), Bo Patterson (Kim), and Summie Patterson. Grandchildren: Payton Griffin, Marissa Griffin, Nickolas Honaker, Cody Honaker, Branson Honaker, Lindsey Honaker, Braylan Honaker, and Bryson Honaker. Step-Grandchildren: Holly Harris (Logan), Savannah Moore, Shelby Moore, and Lincoln Mullins. Step- Great-Grandchildren: Lucas Harris He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Pallbearers include Michael Fleming, Matthew Fleming, Haden Fleming, Ethan Moore, Brian McKinney, Terry Dutton, Jerry Dutton, Brandon Dutton, David Dutton, Jamie Honaker, Brandon Fleming, Andrew Honaker, Anthony Honaker, Logan Harris, B.J. Davis, Jonathan McCowan, James Miller, Matt Kenney, Garrett McClain, James Clay, Nat Comer, family, and friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Clintwood, Virginia (Brush Creek Section), with a service beginning at 7:00 PM, with clergy Joe Buchanan and Everette Moore officiating. Funeral service will be the following day, Friday, March 20th, at 1:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy—burial to follow at the Honaker Family Cemetery, Honey Camp Section (Clintwood, Virginia).
